Help Corstorphine Bloom

What is Corstorphine in Bloom?

Flowers, community action and a local nature trail for Corstorphine and Clermiston.

The council has said it will support Corstorphine in Bloom with funding if enough individuals, businesses and organisations sign up.  Every registration helps make the project possible.

Momentum is building — now we need more people and organisations to sign up.

How the project has grown — and what happens next

Corstorphine in Bloom has been building steadily over recent months, with support from local people, discussions with partners, and ongoing work with the Council.

How we got here

  • 5 September 2025 — proposal put to the Community Council
  • 5 October 2025 — website launched
  • 7 October 2025 — first meeting with the City Council
  • December 2025 — discussions began with Edinburgh Zoo
  • Late January 2026 — volunteers invited to come forward
  • Since then — many meetings with Council staff, with support from local councillors

What happens next

  • April 2026 — ask businesses about planters and hanging baskets
  • May 2026 — begin the first approved planter installations
  • Late May to June 2026 — first barrel planter and wider visible planting
  • Summer 2026 — build on the first phase and share updates
  • Autumn 2026 – produce plan for planters and trail throughout area
  • Winter 2026 – Consultation then installation

This is a proposed timeline and may change. We will keep people updated as the project moves forward.

A Green Safari Trail Through Corstorphine

Corstorphine in Bloom is also exploring a wider nature theme linked to native plants and animals.

We are also exploring the use of QR codes linking people to interpretation about native species and conservation projects. This could help create a local trail that is attractive to residents, families, schools and visitors.

What’s Possible Now

We have been working and talking to partners for 6 months to get to this point in March 2026.

🌿For businesses

Businesses can install hanging baskets and, with council approval, trough planters outside their premises. Let us know the size and location you have in mind and we will help arrange a council visit.s.

🐦 For community spaces

Barrel planters in parks and at the library are possible now. Community planters in shopping areas may also be possible in future, with the council indicating that Visitor Levy funding could help support them

👐 Support and advice

City of Edinburgh Parks can provide soil, some plants and practical advice. Edinburgh Zoo is also exploring how it could help with an animal-themed trail linked to nature, conservation and community planting.

This means Corstorphine in Bloom is not just a long-term idea. There are things we can start doing now. See What’s Possible Now for more information.
