Corstorphine in Bloom invites local people and businesses to help brighten the area

A new community effort is gathering momentum to make Corstorphine and Clermiston brighter, greener and more welcoming for everyone.

Corstorphine in Bloom is bringing together residents, businesses and community organisations to support flowers, planters, hanging baskets and other practical improvements across the area’s shopping streets and public spaces.

The project says it is about more than flowers. Organisers want to boost local pride, support local businesses, improve the look of shopping areas and create a stronger sense of community.

More than 50 businesses have already registered their interest, and there has also been encouraging support from local residents and organisations. Discussions are continuing with the City of Edinburgh Council and the various departments needed to help the project move forward.

A spokesperson for Corstorphine in Bloom said:

“Corstorphine in Bloom is about local people coming together to make Corstorphine and Clermiston brighter, greener and more welcoming. It is about much more than flowers. It is about community pride, supporting local businesses and making our shopping areas look cared for and inviting.”

They added:

“We already have strong interest from local businesses and support from across the community. The more people who register their support, the stronger the case for wider backing, council support and future funding opportunities, including visitor levy money.”

The group says people do not need to make a major commitment to help. Residents can register support, volunteer a little time, help care for a planter, encourage a business to get involved, or offer sponsorship.

The project is also exploring wider ideas for the future, including a possible trail across Corstorphine linked to Edinburgh Zoo, helping connect different parts of the area in a positive and family-friendly way.

Corstorphine in Bloom is now encouraging more residents, businesses and community groups to get involved and help show the strength of local support. For more information, visit: corstorphineinbloom.com
