Project Update 21st April 2026

Another busy week – the summary

  • Numbers continue to increase and we are matching volunteers to planters
  • 160 businesses across 11 shopping areas have been listed and mostly visited in the last week (some were closed)
  • The Corstorphine Visually Impaired Group were consulted on plans and feedback obtained.
  • Police Scotland are to offer advice on anti-vandal techniques
  • Meeting the zoo about the trail on Tuesday 21st April
  • Two schools are interested and a meeting has been arranged with one
  • At least one business has put flower pots outside the door
  • Many shops are putting up leaflets in their windows. Including at least one that has never ever put up a community leaflet. Lot’s of positive enthusiasm
  • There is a TV interview this week with Sam
  • Back-up for all roles is in place so if any of us disappear, others have access to emails etc.

Issues

  1. Grill removal scheduled with blacksmiths but no date yet. Corstorphine Womens Institute Group leader is going on holiday at end April.
  2. busiest time of the year for the nursery
  3. when can we advise the 6 businesses on narrow planter  locations?
  4. How do we best advise the material being put out there by enthusiastics busineses  – I felt the pots I saw on the pavement outside one were a trip hazard. We want to harness that enthusiasm but make it safe.
