Corstorphine in Bloom – Project Snapshot

Progress

  • 25 local businesses have expressed interest in supporting the scheme.two are involved inadoptingtwo stone planters
  • A list of 45 community organisations has been compiled and these will be approached over the coming weeks.
  • The City of Edinburgh Council has been very supportive, offering planters, experience and resources to help make the project happen.
  • The Greenspaces team, the Inch Nursery manager and the Park Rangers have all been working together to help move things forward. Two stone planters are being prepared.

Outstanding Issue

One point that still needs clarification is permission for placing planters on public highways.

If businesses are willing to support planters and volunteers are willing to help maintain them, it would be helpful to understand the process for obtaining permission and putting these in place.

Next Steps

  • Update St John’s Road businesses on the next stage of the project.
  • Create website pages showing planters that need volunteers and those already adopted.
  • Carry out a leaflet drop in other shopping areas explaining the scheme.
  • Put up posters and online adverts inviting people to support the project.
