How it works

Choose a spot: shopfront, corner tub, railings or railing-basket, or a shared planter in a visible location.
Pick a package: seasonal colour, pollinator mix, evergreen structure — we’ll propose options that suit light and maintenance.
Plant & care: we organise installation days, provide watering guidance and simple checklists. Rotas keep it easy.
Celebrate: we’ll map sponsors, share photos, and enter relevant awards (e.g. Keep Scotland Beautiful).

Watering rota: adopt a planter near you and give it a drink 1–2 times per week in dry spells.
Planting days: spring and autumn team-ups on the High Street and in St Margaret’s Park.
Adopt-a-Spot: residents tidy and care for a chosen corner; we supply plants/labels.
Photo & comms: snap progress for socials and the website.
Logistics helpers: compost runs, moving planters, checking fixings.

Sites improved: target 25+ planters across the High Street corridor in year one.
Volunteer hours: target 300+ hours contributed.
Pollinator-friendly species: minimum 60% planting mix by area.

Partners & supporters

We collaborate with local businesses, schools and community groups, and work with City of Edinburgh Council Greenspaces on advice, compost and water points. We also align with Keep Scotland Beautiful’s awards for community growing.

FAQ

Do I need gardening experience?

No. We’ll show you everything and pair new helpers with experienced volunteers.

What about watering?

Businesses often water outside their premises; nearby residents and rota volunteers help at shared sites. We choose drought-tolerant plants and use water-retentive compost.
