Physic Garden – Drumbrae Park

1โ€“2 local volunteers needed – give 10 minutes occasionally to help water and weed to make Drumbrae brighter. Contact Us.

About this planter

This will be a physic garden with medicinal herbs supported by Friends of Drumbrae Park. The planters are 120x490x50cm.

The City of Edinburgh Council have provided the soil and flowers – examples below

  • Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea)
  • Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria)
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
  • Betony (Stachys officinalis)
  • Selfheal (Prunella vulgaris)
  • Cowslip (Primula veris)
  • Wild thyme (Thymus polytrichus)

All we need are one or two local people willing to keep an eye on it during the growing season.

What is involved?

Very little!

โœ” Pull the occasional weed
โœ” Water during dry spells
โœ” Spend a few minutes helping the area look nicer

Most volunteers give 5โ€“10 minutes now and again.

Why it matters

Small efforts like this make the street more colourful, improve the local environment and help bring the community together.
