Location: 56–58 St John’s Road, Corstorphine, Edinburgh EH12 8AT
Permission Granted 6 October 2026
Proposed installation
Allume Chiropractic would like to install two narrow rectangular planters against the building frontage.
Planter dimensions (each):
Length: 2,150 mm
Depth from building: 400 mm
Height: 500 mm
Number: 2
The planters would be dark grey/black and positioned against the frontage so that they do not unnecessarily encroach into the pedestrian route.

Pedestrian clearance
Width of pavement at proposed planter location: 5880 mm
Depth of planter: 400 mm
Clear Pedestrian Width Remaining: 5480 mm
The proposed arrangement will maintain well over the minimum amount
Access and safety
The proposed position has been selected so that:
- the planters do not obstruct the entrance to Alume Chiropractic;
- the normal pedestrian route past the premises remains clear;
- wheelchair users, people using mobility aids and people with buggies can continue to pass;
- the planters do not obstruct utility covers or other street furniture;
- adequate separation from the carriageway is maintained; and
- the planters are stable and maintained by the business/Corstorphine in Bloom.
Nearest street furniture/other obstruction: There are utility access points within the pavement area but outside the planter installation area
