Corstorphine in Bloom is a community-led programme working with the community council and partners to brighten streets with flowers , strengthen local centres, improve wellbeing, and bring people together through planting, volunteering and shared pride of place.
It will create a walkable trail linking 11 local shopping areas and 5 local parks, encouraging people to explore the whole community on foot.
What’s planned
A connected “in Bloom” network across Corstorphine
We will improve and maintain planting across 11 local shopping and community areas, creating a recognisable, welcoming identity across Corstorphine and Clermiston community cocunil area. This includes planters, seasonal flowers, bulbs and small greening projects in high-footfall locations.

A walkable trail linking town centres and parks
A clearly identified community trail will link:
- 11 shopping and local centre areas, and
- 5 local parks, creating green “stepping stones” through the area.
The trail will support short everyday walks, longer leisure routes, family outings, and gentle exercise, helping people move between streets, parks and local businesses.

Animal-themed areas
Working with partners, each area will be linked to an animal or habitat theme, adding colour, interest and educational value. These themes will be especially engaging for children and families and will encourage people to follow the trail from area to area.

Schools, learning and young people
Local primary and secondary schools will be invited to take part through:
- Adopt-a-planter or adopt-a-space projects

Regular volunteer sessions will support planting, watering, bulb planting and light maintenance. Activities will be flexible and inclusive, with options suitable for older residents, families, and those with limited mobility.
