We are about to leaflet the community over the next couple of days.
Sam mentioned she had spoken to Janice and I just wanted to clarify our thinking.
The phrase “the council will support us” relates to Andy Williams’ statement about using visitor levy money to fund improvements and asking Linda Anglin to set up a meeting. This is something happening during the summer and is why we are mobilising businesses so we can have a representative community view. The work we are doing now with hanging baskets, trough planters and whisky barrels is separate.
I emailed Stephen about considering joining Keep Scotland Beautiful once we get established. There are no immediate benefits in joining now as far as we can see and our limited time is being spent in getting volunteers , sponsorship and stuff out there. The phrase “in bloom” is used by many community groups across Scotland who have not joined KSB.- Perth, Pitlochry and Longniddry for instance.
One of the things about us is we are trying a different approach: low bureaucracy, low cost and high impact. It’s meant for the 21st century to fit in with modern lifestyles as well as reach all age groups and demographics with the trail included. The framework approach on our website will be an example to others in the city and beyond.
