On 25th September I wrote to planning.response@edinburgh.gov.uk

“An application for planning permission would be determined by ourselves in the Planning department. It would be important to get the consent of the land owner in question however. If this is the Council but it would be in an additional and different requirement to our role as determining planning applications as the Planning Authority.

This looks as though it may also be an instance where the pavement is maintained by the Council as Roads department and I would suggest contacting them. I’m not 100% on the relevant email address but if you contact roadpermits@edinburgh.gov.uk then I’m sure they will be able to advise on the relevant process and contact for this.”

On 6th October 2025, wrote to roadpermits@edinburgh.gov.uk

“I am working on a new project being set-up in Corstorphine to get volunteers to plant flowers in existing disused stone planters, place new hanging baskets outside shops and add planters to brighten up the environment. How do we go about getting permission to do this?”

They then wrote to Patrick Coogan who has not yet replied
